That’s just one of the fascinating song histories revealed in the new book Anatomy of a Song. If I had a criticism it's that sometimes her desire to turn a phrase renders her intent intelligible without a rereading. I leave it where guests can see it when they visit my home and everybody always notices that sweet little face and has to look through the book. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
