I read a lot of books to my granddaughter and this was by far my favorite of the year. While this isn't the next "big thing" in my opinion, it would still be worth picking up if you want something to read. Add to that surgeries and multiple doctors to manage and you have a full plate of responsibilities above what typically comes with raising children. However, there are challenges and barriers on the road ahead specific to developing countries. I do like the awareness this book brings to characters like West, the sort of person who selflessly gives up everything for the greater good of their country and the support they should receive when they come home. One Blue August is an excellent piece of work. Wisdom is priceless.
